Russian Ships Call on Chennai
On March 26, a detachment of Russian Pacific Fleet ships comprising the corvettes ‘Rezky’, ‘Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov’ and the medium-sized sea tanker ‘Pechenga’ made a port call in Chennai.
Consul General of Russia in Chennai Valerii Khodzhaev and Defence Attache of Russia in India Capt. 1st Igor Kuptsov took part in the welcoming ceremony.
A number of official meetings and events as well as joint exercises are planned to be held during the Russian ships' stay in the port of Chennai.
Prior to their arrival here, the Russian ships participated in the international naval drills ‘Maritime Security Belt 2025’ in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, organized by the Iranian side.
