Screening of the Russian feature movie «Rzhev» in Chennai

On November 28, 2023, the screening of the Russian historical feature film «Rzhev» was organized at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Chennai. The movie is based on the story by Vyacheslav Kondratiev, a Soviet writer, who participated in the Rzhev offensive operation of 1942-43. The actions revolves around a village near the city of Rzhev; the task to recapturing it from German forces is assigned to one of the battalions of the Soviet army.

Prior to the screening, Mr. Oleg N.Avdeev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, and Mr. T. Roosevelt, the Chairman of the Indo-Russian Film Club of Chennai, addressed the audience. In his speech, Mr. Avdeev highlighted the strategic importance of the Rzhev operation that had contained massive forces of the Nazi invaders and led to turning the tide of the Great Patriotic War in favor of the USSR. The Consul General emphasized the great feat of Soviet soldiers who fought courageously for the freedom of their Motherland.
