Seminar against falsification of history held at Loyola College, Chennai
On July 14, 2015 the seminar on "Combating against the Falsification of History" was held at Loyola College as the part of celebrations dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The seminar was organized by Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Chennai and the History Department of Loyola College with the support of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Chennai.
Deputy Consul-General Mr.Alexey Vaskov, Vice-Consul and Director of RCSC Mr.Mikhail Gorbatov, Principle of Loyola College Dr. Rev.Joseph Antony Samy, Hindu College Professor Dr.Dayalan, Chairman of the Indo-Russian Rural Foundation Mr.R.Rajagobal took part in the program. The faculty of History Department and more than 200 students also attended the event.
Welcoming the audience with introductory remarks, Deputy Consul-General Mr.Alexey Vaskov emphasized the importance of studying historical legacy of the Great Patriotic War and World War II as a lesson for the forthcoming generations. Vice-Consul Mr.Mikhail Gorbatov delivered a key-note address highlighting the historical significance of the Great Patriotic War and the decisive role of the USSR in defeating the fascist Germany.
Indian participants of the seminar underlined the vitality of the research on the Great Patriotic War, which is so important for Russia – India's strategic partner. The Victory in the Great Patriotic War also played the ultimate role in final defeating of the fascist powers in Asia as well as in Europe. Besides, the speakers agreed to focus more on creating the discussion platforms in local institutions within the framework of BRICS and SCO.
The photo exhibition of the Great Patriotic War's chronicle was opened and the movie "The Story of a Soldier" was screened at Loyola College as a part of the program.
