Russian Grand-master wins chess tournament in Chennai

January 25, the top seed Russian Grand-master Pavel Ponkratov emerged the Chennai Open 2020 Champion, with the superior tie-break score, after the 10th and final round of the 12th International Grand-master tournament for the Dr. N.Mahalingam Trophy. Third and fifth high rank positions were also held by the Russians Sergey Yudin and Ivan Rosum.

The Chennai Open 2020 saw an eight-way-tie for the top spot. Ponkratov's superior tie-breaker score handed him the first prize (Media link).
